Earring Collection

Maybe it sounds weird, but I’ve found that a good pair of earrings can make me feel powerful.

That’s how I feel when I wear my copper Ebenezer Stone by Katy (an amazing Grand Marais local artist/friend) earrings: a little bolder, a little more willing to be seen.

Other wearables have had this power for me in the past: a pair of vintage leather lace up Steve Madden boots in my early 20s, more recently a thrifted black rabbit fur coat. Something as simple as donning earrings may seem frivolous, but lately I’ve found that wearing a good pair for anything from a meeting about a weaving commission to an intimidating social situation to a normal workday as a housekeeper can alter how I view myself that day, which in turn alters how I show up in the world. It’s a small thing, but it’s anything but frivolous.

I infused that energy and intention into making my North Woven Goods earring collection. These earrings are big and bold. They’ll brush your collarbone and get tangled in your hair and blow crazy in the wind. They aren’t subtle. And they aren’t meant to be. My hope is that they help those who wear them tap into the wildness and power they already possess to tackle whatever they’re facing that day.
